Titanfall: Assault

I was the principal Art Director on this title from concept to completion.

Titanfall: Assault was a game that we built from the ground up in Unity 3D. I was instrumental in the art development, creating 3D assets and animation as we started building a playable deliverable. I worked with the team of artists to concept and visualize a target that would fit naturally into the Titanfall Brand but translate well for a mobile marketplace. We created a new mobile Brand for Titanfall that has been very well received attracting hardcore fans of the Franchise as well as new players that are not familiar with the source. The game was released on August 10, 2017 

The product was selected as Editor’s Choice by Apple & Google and featured at the top of the charts. Titan: Assault was also just nominated for “Game of the Year” by respected consumer site PocketGamer and Mobile Game Awards.

Video

I was heavily involved in the creation of our World Wide Launch trailer working directly with the Nexon creative team to outline the script, prep assets, and offer feedback & direction. I was responsible for creating the character portrait marketing collateral and capturing the majority of gameplay footage used across our video marketing campaign.

Marketing Art

As Art Director I oversaw the marketing campaign working directly with our internal concept artists, Nexon Creative, and Respawn. We created Key Art, UA Advertising, and spotlight videos. I help produce all screen shots for the game and App Store featured collateral for Google and Apple. Below are some sample galleries of the marketing materials.

 

Live Operations – Digital Advertising

When the product went live I was responsible for creating the digital advertising with the Live Event banners, and Product offered in the store. I created new marketing collateral for each type, as well as localizing to other languages, and created the in store digital product. Below are samples of images I created for some of those pieces with framing and copy.

 

UI/UX Design

I help produce the majority of UI/UX and designed much of the iconography in the game, including the game icon. I also created all portrait and card art for Pilots and Titans.

Game Art

One of my favorite aspects of working on games is designing the environments and establishing the character of the world. In Titanfall: Assault the majority of what you see on your screen is the environment and because of that it needs to be rich with story. With every project I put together a robust style guide with visual goals and mood board inspiration for artists. Below are some sample pages for the environment style.

Using the Brand reference and visual goals we create the detailed world of Titanfall: Assault. Environment artist Josiah Munsey did an absolutely amazing job on our environments, hard to believe this is a mobile game.

 360/VR Panoramas

One of the coolest marketing pieces we did for the product were 360/VR Panoramas. These were used in on social networks and in User acquisition campaigns for attracting new users. These were painted by our amazing senior concept artist Matt Szydlik under my direction.
